Key Features and Benefits
1. Thorens TD 160 BC MKII: A Classic Analog Masterpiece
The Thorens TD 160 BC MKII is the updated version of the famous TD 160 series. Known for its incredible build quality, precision, and reliability, the TD 160 BC MKII offers a sleek, minimalist design that complements any high-end audio setup.
-
Belt Drive Mechanism: The TD 160 BC MKII uses a belt-drive system, which is designed to minimize
vibrations and deliver smoother, more accurate rotation of the platter. The belt drive mechanism helps in reducing motor noise and
mechanical interference, ensuring that the stylus stays in perfect contact with the grooves of your vinyl, translating into high-fidelity
sound output.
-
Solid MDF Plinth Construction: The turntable's plinth is constructed from solid MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard),
which is known for its ability to dampen resonances and minimize vibrations that could affect the sound quality. This results in a cleaner,
more accurate sound that audiophiles will appreciate.
-
High-Precision Speed Control: The TD 160 BC MKII features a high-precision electronic speed control that ensures consistent
speed stability during playback. With a 33 1/3 and 45 RPM setting, you’ll get reliable performance for all of your vinyl records, ensuring
the best playback experience possible.
-
Quartz-Controlled Motor: The quartz-controlled motor ensures that the platter spins at a consistent speed,
offering the accuracy required for top-tier sound reproduction. It minimizes flutter, which can negatively affect the clarity and definition
of the sound.
2. Grace G-707 Tonearm: Perfect for Delicate Stylus Tracking
The Grace G-707 tonearm is one of the most celebrated tonearms in audiophile circles, offering superior tracking accuracy and an ultra-low resonance profile. Paired with the TD 160 BC MKII, the G-707 tonearm ensures that every detail of your vinyl is captured with utmost precision.
-
Unipivot Design: The G-707 employs a unipivot design, which eliminates the need for traditional bearings
that can add unwanted friction or resonance. This design ensures smooth movement of the tonearm and better tracking ability, resulting in
cleaner sound reproduction.
-
Adjustable Azimuth and VTA: The tonearm provides precise control over azimuth and vertical
tracking angle (VTA),
allowing you to fine-tune your setup for optimal sound quality. By adjusting these settings, you can extract the full potential of your
records, ensuring that the stylus tracks the grooves accurately and evenly.
-
Low Mass Construction: The G-707 tonearm is designed with low mass materials to reduce distortion and improve tracking
performance. This means that it can track even the most delicate grooves in your records without adding any additional coloration to the
sound.
3. Sumiko Pearl Cartridge: Clarity and Detail in Every Note
The Sumiko Pearl cartridge is renowned for its excellent tracking ability and ability to reveal the full spectrum of sound in vinyl recordings. Paired with the TD 160 BC MKII and Grace G-707 tonearm, the Sumiko Pearl produces a dynamic, well-balanced sound that audiophiles will appreciate.
-
Elliptical Stylus Shape: The elliptical stylus ensures precise tracking of the grooves, reducing
distortion and maximizing the detail of your vinyl records. This stylus shape is particularly effective for capturing both high-frequency
and low-frequency details in your music.
-
High Output: The Sumiko Pearl has a high output level, which means it can be paired with a wide variety of
phono preamps without the need for additional amplification. It delivers a clean, balanced sound with rich bass and crisp highs, making it a
perfect match for the TD 160 BC MKII and Grace G-707 tonearm.
-
Smooth and Detailed Sound: The Sumiko Pearl cartridge provides a smooth and natural sound signature, which is known for
being neutral yet expressive. It reproduces music with clarity, excellent imaging, and a wide soundstage, allowing listeners to fully
immerse themselves in their favorite vinyl records.
