Tania Fares
Tania Fares is a dynamic force in the London fashion industry, dedicated to fostering and promoting emerging talent. In 2013, she co-founded the BFC Fashion Trust alongside Kim Hersov, editor-at-large of Porter magazine. This not-for-profit organization serves as an interdisciplinary hub, uniting over 130 members from business, finance, and the arts. The BFC Fashion Trust offers its community access to exclusive studio tours and talks by leading fashion figures, creating a vibrant environment for learning and networking. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in mentoring and supporting young designers, helping them to navigate the complex fashion landscape.
Fares' commitment to the industry extends beyond the BFC Fashion Trust. In 2014, she was appointed as a contributing editor for British Vogue, a position that amplifies her influence in fashion, art, and design. Her partnership with Farfetch demonstrates her dedication to launching new designers, particularly those emerging from UK universities. Additionally, Fares serves as a Jury panel member at PAD London, further underscoring her role as a champion of creative talent.
Sarah Mower MBE
Sarah Mower MBE is a renowned journalist and a fervent advocate for young designers, driven by a deep curiosity about the evolving nature of fashion. Throughout her career, she has been at the forefront of discovering and nurturing new talent. As the chief critic for style.com and later Vogue's voguerunway.com, Mower has documented the rise of many of the designers featured in her work, often establishing connections with them during their student years. Her passion for supporting emerging designers led her to an influential role with the British Fashion Council (BFC) as the Ambassador for Emerging Talent in 2009.
In the same year, Mower took on the role of chair of the NEWGEN selection committee, where she brought together London's top buyers and fashion editors to guide young designers through the challenges of starting their own businesses. Her expertise and insights have been invaluable in helping these designers find their footing in the highly competitive fashion industry. Mower's dedication to education is also evident in her role as a visiting professor at Central Saint Martins (CSM) and as an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Art. Through these positions, she continues to inspire and mentor the next generation of fashion innovators.
